IK4-TEKNIKER is to participate in a workshop within the framework of the European project ‘EMRP SIB58 Angles’. The title of the workshop is “Current state of the art in Angular Metrology” to be held tomorrow, Wednesday, October 28th at the CEM (Spanish Metrology Centre) in Tres Cantos, Madrid.
In addition to IK4-TEKNIKER this event will be attended by CEM, UME-TUBITAK, CMI, HZB, MWO, PTB, MIKES/VTT, FAGOR, INRIM and LNE. The aim is to discuss developments related to the dissemination of radian.
‘EMRP SIB58 Angles’
The project began in 2013 to guarantee the execution and dissemination of radian, the flat angle SI unit, according to the current levels of demand, and ranges from high-level scientific work carried out on particle accelerators and free electron lasers to industrial applications.
Although the need to perform this research goes beyond the scope of the metrology community, demand has grown in basic science, mechatronics, mechanical or civil engineering, energy production, medical advances, materials research, automotive and aerospace industries, nuclear research, metering and medical instrument manufacturing.
Specifically, IK4-TEKNIKER has developed a table that generates high resolution and an extensive range of angles for the so-called LSAG resolution. This table delivers a new concept from a mechanical perspective by generating small angles (±3600”) with high levels of accuracy (50 nrad).
One of the main advantages of this device is its portability due to its small size together with flexible mechanisms replacing the actuation arms used by other units for the same purpose. Moreover, several optical measuring devices have been incorporated to deliver high precision readings on the angular position of the device.
