Iñaki Aranburu, Chairman of IK4-IKERLAN, has been appointed as the new chairman of IK4 now that Jesús María Iriondo’s term of office has come to an end. Mr Iriondo will continue to collaborate with the alliance from his position as Chairman of IK4-TEKNIKER.

The NEURIMP European project, led by IK4-TEKNIKER, combines biotechnology and microtechnology to repair damage to peripheral nerves. It will enable new prostheses designed to replace autologous implants currently used in this condition to be developed, and will allow more severe nerve severing to be successfully addressed.

A new generation of batteries to improve the integration of energy from renewable sources

In collaboration with the company ZIGOR, IK4-TEKNIKER is developing redox flow batteries that store energy by means of a chemical process between two separate liquid electrolytes. This new generation of efficient batteries with a long useful service life offers a solution for accumulating the energy produced by means of renewable sources, one of the big challenges facing the field of energy storage.
