This year, Wake Up! Spain, the Spanish Economy Forum organised by El Español, D+I (Disruptive & Innovative) and Invertia, will hold its second edition from April 4 - 8 at Casa de América in Madrid.
In this year’s edition, the event, also known as the “Spanish Davos”, discussions will address ´Learning, growth and sustainability in a Europe of solidarity” and specifically underscore new digital knowledge, economic growth, energy transition and social cohesion within the scope of a major European recovery project after the pandemic against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine.
One of the key objectives of these five days will consist in reviewing the degree of progress made by the different Strategic Recovery Projects for Recovery and Economic Transformation (PERTEs) announced by the government. Information will be given on the most outstanding reforms implemented to date with regard to applications filed to receive Next Generation funding under the umbrella of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
The session that will take place on April 7 entitled ‘Education, technology, jobs and companies’ features a round table discussion with experts from several technology centres such as, among others, Luis Uriarte, the director general of Tekniker, who will explain their points of view with regard to technology, telecommunications and digitisation.
The event will be inaugurated today by the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez and closed by the Secretary General of the OECD five days later. The forum will feature more than 100 speakers representing public authorities and several presidents of some of Spain’s leading companies such as, among others, Telefónica, Banco Santander, BBVA, Iberdrola or Naturgy. There will also be a significant presence of various major multinational corporations from Europe and the United States.
