Tekniker presents its most recent developments for safe and efficient driving at Go Mobility
The technology centre will participate in the international conference on electromobility organised by MUBIL on April 27 & 28 at the FICOBA exhibition centre in Irun.
The ever-growing focus of public and private stakeholders with regard to boosting the use of electric vehicles makes this new edition of the international Go Mobility trade fair even more attractive where the most recent developments related to sustainable, efficient and safe mobility for the present and future of driving will be presented.
In this regard, Tekniker, the Basque technology centre, a member of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance (BRTA), intends to provide its technological capabilities to develop of solutions for this fast-growing area. Consequently, the organisers will showcase three demonstrators in the exhibition space located on stand 3-04 in hall 3 of the FICOBA trade fair on April 27 & 28.
Nerea Arandia, the director of Tekniker’s Electronics Unit, explains that “in the automotive sector there is a pressing need to transition towards mobility that is more efficient and sustainable. The aim of many companies currently developing components for vehicles is focused on incorporating electronics to avoid being left behind in the race towards e-mobility. Tekniker can provide the necessary support thanks to its expertise in terms of embedded electronics for the automotive sector.
Detecting driver tiredness
One the demonstrators to be displayed by Tekniker at Go Mobility 2022 will be an innovative system that uses AI technology to monitor driver eyelid patterns.
Arandia also says that “if an eye remains shut for a certain amount of time, the system triggers a drowsiness alarm to allow drivers to avoid potential accidents caused by tiredness”.
More specifically, the Tekniker demonstrator features a display placed at a comfortable height to visualise results, a camera to monitor blinking patterns and a base that supports the display and the embedded AI system.
Electric inverters and motors
The technology centre will also present a more sustainable and efficient electric motor at the international exhibition that has been fully designed in-house under the umbrella of the European Weevil project.
This compact and small system has been equipped with several components that reduce the number vehicle components, lessen weight and leave more space.
Tekniker, moreover, will display the prototype of an electric inverter at Go Mobility to demonstrate the organisation’s capabilities in terms of developing customised power electronics.
Arandia explains that “the inverter is equipped with silicon carbide semiconductors. Thanks to this technology, it is possible to increase efficiency and reduce the size of the power converters used in the field of electric mobility. Nowadays, and as regards mobility, we have integrated this technology in traction inverters at DC charging stations, although this can also be applied in other sectors such as energy or industry”.
