The EIROS project consortium is to meet at IK4-TEKNIKER
The meeting of the European project EIROS on self-healing, erosion-resistant and anti-icing composite materials is to be held at the IK4-TEKNIKER facilities.
Developing new self-healing, erosion-resistant and anti-icing composite materials for the wind, aeronautical and automotive sectors. This is the objective of EIROS a European project linked to a Horizon 2020 programme initiative in which IK4-TEKNIKER is involved.
The project, that kicked-off in March 2016, is to organise a meeting on September 21 & 22 at the technology centre’s facilities to discuss research actions performed to date and to establish short-term actions.
The project, in which the Basque Technology centre has been working together with other leading companies of the above mentioned sectors, is currently looking into the development of nanocapsules-nanoparticles and how they can be rendered functional for anti-icing, anti-erosion applications in order to establish a process model to optimise resin infusion, surface and structural characterisation of the materials developed and scale synthesis and functionalization processes for capsules and nanoparticles to be applied to wind turbine blades, cryogenic tanks and automotive components.
